about

Chiang Valley Liberators have been fitfully presenting their tortured wares for a long while - perhaps too long. The musicianship has developed not at all and that has never been more evident than on The White Guard.

What does it mean? I don't know - something about what we as a species are doing to ourselves; what we are becoming and why we don't collectively seem to care or have an interest in doing anything else.

Maybe Chiang Valley Liberators are prescient luminaries...more probable that they are drunken wastrels of mixed age, forgotten past, chaotic present and uncertain minds.

For all that, if you find something interesting in burnt-out cars, abandoned town centres, the stink of shit-clogged rivers or the grey vistas of urban degradation, then you might like some of these recordings.

It might be worth noting that soundscapes evolve and become something other i.e. the opening minutes might not be representative of the whole - persistence and determination, patience and willpower could reward; so grit your teeth, grab something comforting and wade in!!
